I don’t have time for yoga or meditation!
The longest class is 32 minutes and the longest meditation is 12. Throw the lasagne in the oven and you’ll be done before it’s hot!
I wont have time to do it every day!
That’s ok. The videos are yours to use as you wish. Although seven days in a row is preferred, there is no reason why you could not find equal success by doing them every other day. The same goes for the meditations. Meditation has a cumulative effect, meaning that the more you do it, the better you do it and the more benefits you reap from the practice. But if you can’t fit one in every day, no worries! Use them when they can best support you!
Why would I want to use affirmations? They seem silly to me!
Repeating an affirmation as a mantra, either throughout a yoga practice, throughout your day, or before you go to bed at night, has been shown to reroute certain neurons in the brain. There's an old saying in neuroscience: “neurons that fire together wire together.” This means the more you run a neural-circuit in your brain, the stronger that circuit becomes. This is why “practice makes perfect”. By repeating this affirmations you eventually re-wire your brain into believing them to be true, which in turn makes them true. You can say them in your mind, if you’d like, rather than out loud. The benefits will still be the same. And the affirmation audio track is there to listen to whenever you’re feeling it.
Do I have to journal?
No, of course not. You don’t have to do anything. However, it is highly recommended to make the time to journal directly after class if possible, while your body and mind are still processing and moving through what we’ve learned on the mat. The journal prompts are directly related to the affirmations and yoga flow, so they will help you to get your thoughts out on paper, and ultimately release those parts that aren’t serving you.
